Yesterday someone told me I was “addicted to fame” which I found odd. I realized in that instant that this person just did not understand me or most entertainers for that matter. Singers and dancers don’t do what they do because of fame… we do it because we love the art. Singing and song writing touches my spirit in a way that only creative people can understand. Fame is merely a sometimes unfortunate but necessary aspect of the business of entertainment. It’s the equivilent of telling a swimmer that they are addicted to wetness… a mandatory aspect of the endeavor. Some people just don’t get it. But in retrospect, I imagine that such a statement is really just meant to hurt feelings and not provide any real insight to anyones heart. In my opinion, pursuing fame for the sake of fame is perfectly fine (not a bad thing). Good luck to those who seek it. The people in my world who understand and love me, they know where my heart lies.
